Western Pacific 841 "Silver Plate" dining car
Built by: Budd Company--Novenmber, 1948

The "Silver Plate" is one of six dining cars built as part of the original CZ order and one of two owned by the WP. All six survived until the end of service in 1971.

In a regular CZ consist, the car ran in the middle of the train, leading the sleepers, and observation car. It trailed thje dome-lounge car, which was intended to work together with the diner.

The dining area seats a maximum of 48 in a four person per table configuration. In slower seasons, some tables were substituted for shorter tables seating only two people for a maximum of 40 places.

The "SIlver Plate" is still substantially intact, with most of its original interior fixtures and furniture, and nearly all of its original kitchen in place.

Thank you, Western Pacific Railway for your graciousness in sending the "Silver Plate" to DUnsmuir Railroad Days!!
